You want to be super specific and find your exact ream client. What is your niche? Who do you WANT to serve? By keeping your assortment too broad, you are inviting so many people in that may not be your client.

When I started my business I wanted to help every woman feel beautiful. So every single suggestion people made I took to heart and started adding. I quickly saw that my brand was so all over the place and confusing so no one knew what to expect when they came to me. I was making gowns, and then denim, and then beach cover ups and in completely different styles to try to please everyone and in the end I was overwhelmed and pleasing no one.

So I niched down, started figuring out who exactly my customer was and went after her hard. Did it mean I lost some clients along the way? Of course it did, but in the end I have wound up with clients who know what to reach out to us for when they need what we make. They know any time they come to our website or into our studio that they are going to find what they are looking for. Knowing who you are an what your product is will make it easier to explain and therefore easier to sell.
